How I Work

Design is more than following a prescribed process. It’s about choosing the right tools and adapting them to each project. I love organizing and making sense of information, whether it’s researching, structuring content, or creating functional designs. My skills in Interaction Design and User Experience Design span all project stages.

How I Tackle a New Project

For any project, I start by gathering all the information I believe I have and the questions I need to address. This helps me identify the tools likely to assist me in uncovering the answers.

Conducting research

While existing documentation provides some answers, I conduct stakeholder and user interviews, competitive analysis, and content inventories, among other research activities. The approach depends on the project’s unique requirements. This initial phase lays the groundwork for efficiently planning project activities and deliverables.

Promoting research

I emphasize to stakeholders that research is an indispensable part of the design process. I allocate both time and budget for research in project planning and estimation, even when budgets are tight.

Design tools

I’ve used many design programs over the years, currently favoring Figma. I’ve also worked with Adobe XD, Sketch, Omnigraffle, Axure RP, and Invision. I quickly adapt to new tools and believe in maximizing the resources at hand.

Synthesis and analysis

Understanding and articulating complex ideas is crucial in design. It’s not enough to gather information; drawing meaningful conclusions is vital. I delve deeply into challenges to uncover the best solutions.

Purposeful communication

Early and clear communication propels us forward. I share progress with the team and stakeholders, avoiding over-investment in a single direction before involving others. When faced with open questions, I outline options and foster discussion to gather diverse input.

Collaboration

I thrive as both an individual contributor and collaborator. I enjoy working with professionals from various disciplines. Teamwork, especially with developers, has shown me the value of diverse insights in resolving challenges and improving our final deliverables. I consider them essential partners in achieving exceptional outcomes.

Mentoring young designers

Mentoring young designers brings me immense joy. I nurture their growth by offering honest feedback, suggesting valuable resources, and highlighting areas for improvement. My goal is to provide the guidance I wish I had as a young designer.
